Departments
Florida International University aims to be recognized in national rankings as one of the top urban research universities. To support this goal, HWCOM recruits internationally recognized basic science faculty whose research initiatives contribute to the discovery, invention, and reinterpretation of medically relevant knowledge.
The college’s four basic science departments are:
- Cellular Biology and Pharmacology
- Human and Molecular Genetics
- Immunology
- Molecular Microbiology and Infectious Diseases
Through partnerships with various health care systems, hospitals, and clinics in the region, FIU HWCOM exposes students to diverse clinical experiences throughout their medical education. Clinical faculty teach critical components of the medical school curriculum, supervise students on clinical rotations, and provide opportunities for students to participate in clinical research.
